今屆賽事將由128支中學學界籃球勁旅參賽，168場賽事將於五月中旬開始。 五個小組賽比賽日假基督教香港信義會信義中學進行，於小組賽成功出線的球隊，可晉級至六月三十日的第二階段淘汰賽日，出線隊伍將直接取得決賽日比賽資格，聯同四隊種子球隊（上屆冠、亞、季、殿） 參與於七月三日假灣仔修頓場館舉行的決賽日，以淘汰賽形式爭奪冠軍寶座。 大會將繼續為學界運動員設置一個符合國際標準的場地。 中學組的兩隊衛冕球隊——男子組的英華書院及女子組的匯基書院 (大坑東) 的參賽球員均有出席今日的活動啟動禮，即席分享參與學界3X3 籃球賽的心得及備戰情況，亦向全港各區學界籃球勁旅下戰書，展現出爭取衛冕的鬥心。 大會增設新口號「我敢挑戰，熱血承傳!」
