   2010年10月10日 · 倫敦是國際上最重要的金融城市之一，有很多東西值得香港學習，而且我們亦需要跟好些當地的政經界人士保持聯絡，了解那裡以至國際的最新發展情況。 倫敦是我曾經工作過兩年的城市，有很多我熟悉的地方和朋友。 由於只能逗留短短的前後兩天，要到我喜歡的地方舊地重遊是不可能了，但可以在出席不同活動的場合見到不少老朋友，其中包括一些香港人在回歸前熟悉的知名人士。 我是一九九七年到倫敦工作的，出任香港駐倫敦經濟貿易辦事處處長，到一九九九年才調返香港出任海關關長。 那段日子，除了忙於周旋於國會議員、政府官員、外國駐倫敦的代表、商界、智庫、華人社區和不同城市的地方官員之外，也要推廣香港的優勢來吸引投資，和增加當地人士對香港在主權轉移後的了解。
