1945年，第二次世界大戰對日本的空襲作戰中，東京車站丸之內站舍的北口被擊中失火，強勁的火勢從北口蔓延至整個建築，因為戰爭的殘酷而留下了歷史印記；被燒毀的東京車站丸之內站舍的修復工作，一直持續到了1947年，爾後也經過多次修復，目前東京車站丸之內站舍是2012年修復後的模樣。 東京車站丸之內站舍除了作為車站設施之外，二樓還設有同樣歷史悠久的東京車站大飯店 （THE TOKYO STATION HOTEL／東京ステーションホテル），包含日本著名小說家 江戶川亂步 、文學作家 川端康成 與松本清張都曾投宿於此。 如今，這裡除了作為東京站通往皇居方向的通路外，更多是一種歷史的象徵。 作為日本的重要文化財產，這次登上了1萬元紙幣的背面，大概也是希望更多人能銘記它背後的故事吧。 多花紫藤.
