2020年9月10日 · 鍾南山從教從醫一甲子，致力於推動國家重大呼吸道傳染病防控體系建設，帶領團隊建立國際先進的新發特發呼吸道重大傳染病「防—監—治—控」鏈式周期管理體系，建立覆蓋全國的流感監測哨點，創立呼吸病毒滴度預警技術，全病程縱向動態監測。 從1960年擔任原北京醫學院放射醫學教研組助教以來，鍾南山就一直堅持傳道授業、培育新人。 在他的推動下，廣州醫科大學將南山班、南山學院作為試點，以人體器官系統為統領，整合原本分離的基礎知識和臨床知識。 他工作再忙，也為南山班親自授課。 9月4日，鍾南山當選2020年全國教書育人楷模。 「我從小就聽到一句話，教師的工作像點燃的蠟燭，這輩子照亮了別人，毀滅了自己，但我認為祗有一半是對的。 教師不僅照亮了別人，也體現了價值。
