2017年2月4日 · 展覧会について. 《マター》 2015年. 《千の手と空（くう）》 1995年. N・S・ハルシャは1969年、南インドの古都マイスールに生まれ、現在も同地に在住し活動しています。 インドの現代アートは近年の急速な経済成長や都市化とともに、国際的な注目を浴びていますが、N・S・ハルシャもこの10年間、世界各地で開催される国際展に数多く参加し、作品を発表しています。 その一方で、南インドの伝統文化や自然環境、日々の生活における人間と動植物との関係など、自らを取り巻く「生」と真摯に向き合いながら、独自の立ち位置を確立してきた作家でもあります。

The motif of the boat features frequently in Shiota Chiharu’s works, conjuring up visions of uncertain lives and futures akin to tiny boats bobbing in vast oceans. These 65 boats suspended from an 11-meter-high ceiling will greet visitors as they enter the museum, inviting them to embark on the journey of the exhibition.
An evanescent, fragile-looking object is protected in the palms of a child’s hands. In Silencewas born out of a memory of the next-door house burning down in the middle of the night when Shiota was a child. A burned piano and audience seating are covered, with the entire space, in black thread. While symbolizing silence, the soundless piano plays visual music.

概要. アーティストについて. 本展の特徴. 主な展示作品. 関連情報. 関連プログラム. 塩田千春の過去最大、最も網羅的な個展. 世界各地で精力的に作品を発表している塩田千春は、美術館、国際展、ギャラリーなどで、これまでに約300本の展覧会に参加しており、近年では年間20本前後の展覧会に参加するなど、国際的にも高い評価を得ています。 日本では2001年の第1回横浜トリエンナーレに出展した《皮膚からの記憶》にて注目を集め、2008年には国立国際美術館（大阪）で「精神の呼吸」、2012年に丸亀市猪熊弦一郎現代美術館（香川）で「私たちの行方」、2013年に高知県立美術館で「ありがとうの手紙」など数々の個展を開催。
過去のさまざまな羅漢図を研究し、現代ならではの五百羅漢図を目指したという本作には、東洋の伝統的な図像と、現代の雑誌やマンガなどから引用した要素が渾然一体となっています。 パブロ・ピカソがスペイン内戦の悲劇を描いた《ゲルニカ》に例え、本作を「村上のゲルニカ」と評する声があります。 2011年の東日本大震災、そして原発事故に直面し、多くのアーティストたちが無力感を抱く一方で、さまざまな活動も行われました。 社会の危機的状況においてアーティストや芸術に何が出来るのか――村上は、過去を現在に、現在を未来に伝えるため、若いアーティストたちとともに後世に残るような巨大絵画を作り上げました。 《五百羅漢図》はまさに、村上隆の出した答えと言えるでしょう。
