2006年12月11日 · might seem obvious, but check to make sure the front and rear shoes for each side are installed properly (i.e. front in front, rear in rear). When I last did mine I was rushing and installed two fronts on one side, the drum would not fit back on. You should not have to turn a new drum when fitting new shoes.

I used the Tera rear disk brake conversion kit which worked very well but don't convert to rear disk brakes if you're after improved braking. If your rear drums are operating ok, you won't notice any braking improvement from converting to rear disks in 99% of the time.
2003年10月5日 · I just overhauled (new shoes, drums, springs) my rear brakes this weekend and now I'm getting a "TONK" sound on release of the pedal when I press the pedal down medium/hard. The sound appears only after I've come to a stop. If I stay stationary and press the brake pedal, I don't get the noise. I went back through my install and checked everything.
2011年6月12日 · The ends nearest the spring fit in with the actuating assembly, and you will have to do some manipulating to get it back in place. Once in, it will look like this: Pull the sides apart, and remount the adjuster. Now, line up the holes for the studs which hold the shoes to the backing plate, and slide the studs in place.
2017年8月31日 · consider that, apparently, the off-the-shelf shoes used for the WJ parking brake can vary enough among manufacturers to matter. Sometimes it isn't obvious when looking at pictures but make sure you choose shoes that have abrasive material which extends to within about 1/2 to 3/4 of an inch from the ends of the shoe and *especially* from the end ...

2007年6月25日 · Use a brake tool/big screw driver to adjust the shoes away from the drum, take the drum off, remove the springs and the old shoes, stick the new shoes in as the old ones were, replace drum and adjust brakes. Here's one that google found... Ron. I did not find anything on Stu's site other than brake conversion info.

2024年1月26日 · Pull the rubber plug on the back of the brake dust cover and adjust the parking brake star wheel until the shoe is up against the drum. Do not be shy about this ... adjust until you cannot rotate the tire by hand. Get it fully locked. Then back off 3 clicks on the star wheel. Repeat for both sides.
