  1. 2024年2月20日 · AMac86. 11. It will be no/next to no disadvantage at all. But also don't obsess about what MC firms want (or what you think they want), there are hundreds of firms out there that all offer differing opportunities and advantages/disadvantages, the MC are merely 5 of them (and come with many disadvantages of their own) 7 months ago. 2. 2016年6月30日 · Oxbridge have a major advantage but them and London unis are not the be all and end all for the magic circle. You do find grads from other Russell Groups at the MC, just not as many. We know its extremely competitive. False vision of getting into the MC would be Swansea, Surrey, Kingston and unis like that etc.

  3. 2024年6月19日 · It is harder than people think it is to extract billable hours from working hours. Seven hours on the timesheet may be ten hours at your desk. All departments work hard. Every lawyer, from Managing Partner to junior trainee, works hard. Partners are rewarded on the origination of work and team performance.

  4. A. ellewoods. 10. Casey. I was offered a place on a "vacation scheme" by someone who runs recruitment at a "magic circle" law firm - I take it I'm not supposed to name names, so its one of Slaughter & May, Clifford Chance or Linklaters. I'm not really too interested in law, though I am considering the possibility of doing a conversion course ...

  5. A. DJkG.1. 17. I read an article about this recently. The magic circle (along with equivalent English-based silver circle) firms were being pressed to 'cast their nets wider than oxbridge' - so reluctantly they seem to have increased their intake from the top London colleges but not much 'wider' than that.

But if I could generalise, I'd say US firms have: less formal training and more on-the-job training. fewer trainees compared to the magic circle law firms.

  7. I tend to set high expectations for myself. Reply 6. 4 years ago. jacketpotato. 20. The problem with Magic Circle firms is that, especially as a trainee, you have zero control. Partly that's due to client requirements; mostly it's just due to bad communication and management within the firms.

  8. You finish at 4am one day. It may take you half an hour to get to a station using public transport (quicker if your firm will pay for a taxi). Then you'll probably have to wait at least 15 minutes for a train. Then the train might take 30-45 minutes to get to your station.

  9. 2024年7月19日 · As of last week, Linklaters became the third of the magic circle to surpass £2bn in revenue (A&O and CC got there last year). Freshfields is yet to get there. If we compare this to the revenue of the big US law firms* in London: Kirkland - $7.2bn. Latham - $5.69bn.

  10. Hi, So I've just finished my first year studying LLB Law at the University of Leicester. I got a first class (barely at 70.9%) and I got an average of 71, 72, 73 percent on my exams. I have done lots of extracurriculars last year because I always felt like I had to do more to make up for not being at a Russell group uni or ox-bridge.
