St John’s Cathedral is the parish church with the longest history in the Province of Hong Kong Sheng Kung Hui. With a history of 175 years in Hong Kong, we are rooted in the liturgy of the Anglican Church and developed into having nine services on Saturdays and Sundays.

This beautiful Cathedral, built in the shape of a cross, is in the Central district of Hong Kong Island on Garden Road, just down the hill from the Peak Tram station. We are open daily for quiet prayer and meditation. Visitors and tourists are always welcome at any of our services.
In the early days, St John's Cathedral was the spiritual centre of a vast area which included China and Japan. The matter of educating and training young men to serve this diocese as well as ensuring the spiritual well being of Victoria residents was high among diocesan priorities.

St John's opened for divine service on Sunday 11th March 1849. The final design for the Cathedral was prepared in the Surveyor General’s Office and built with local labour. The architectural style is a plain and unadorned adaptation from 13th Century Early English and Decorated Gothic, the popular revivalist style for churches at the time.
