Tiger Airways Australia Pty Ltd, operating as Tigerair Australia, was an Australian low-cost airline. Founded by Tiger Airways Holdings, it commenced services in the domestic airline market on 23 November 2007 as Tiger Airways Australia. It later became a subsidiary of Virgin Australia Holdings.
Tigerair (originally Tiger Airways) first took off to Australian skies in 2007, although the airline was originally established several years earlier in Singapore. Its maiden commercial flight was from Melbourne to Gold Coast and two years later, Tigerair commenced its Melbourne to Sydney flights – one of the busiest flight routes in the world.
Tigerair Australia has ceased operations. This means if you held a Tigerair credit, you’ll have been given a Future Flight credit to use with Virgin Australia, for the value of your Tigerair credit.
