Students must pay an exemption fee for each unit that they receive an exemption from. For some of the qualifications that have been approved the student must choose from the list of AAT units eligible for exemptions. The 50% cap and exemption fees do not apply for transitions between AAT AQ2016 and AAT Q2022 units.

An exemption is where a learner who has successfully completed an external qualification containing a module or unit with at least 70% of the content of an equivalent AAT unit, may be regarded as ‘exempt’ from completing that unit as part of their AAT qualification.
