由美国德州农工大学研究开发的农业政策与环境拓展模型APEX (Agricultural Policy Environmental eXtender)适用于田块尺度和中小流域尺度的长时间序列农业面源污染模拟与农业管理措施效果评估，由于其较好的广泛性、共通性，除美国外，相关应用已延伸至亚洲、南美洲、非洲的主要国家。 鉴于APEX模型对复杂地表覆盖下的地表水和地下水循环、土壤侵蚀、营养物质和及其河道输移过程的模拟性能，模型可用来评估梯田、草地、缓冲带、轮作、植物竞争、植被燃烧、畜禽养殖方式、施肥、灌溉、排水等措施对径流、泥沙、营养物质和农药等产生量的影响及其环境问题。 本书为APEX模型理论手册中文版。
