St John’s Cathedral is the parish church with the longest history in the Province of Hong Kong Sheng Kung Hui. With a history of over 170 years in Hong Kong, we are rooted in the liturgy of the Anglican Church and developed into having nine services on Saturdays and Sundays.

The Cathedral Church of Saint John the Evangelist is the cathedral of the Anglican Diocese of Hong Kong Island, and mother church to the Province of Hong Kong and Macao. It is the seat of the Archbishop of Hong Kong and the Bishop of Hong Kong Island.

St John’s Cathedral stands among the high-rise buildings in the heart of the city’s financial district. It is the oldest surviving Western ecclesiastical building in Hong Kong, with its foundation stone laid by Sir John Francis Davis, the second British governor. The Anglican cathedral was completed in 1849 and extended in 1873.
