      • Hong Kong’s MTR has awarded the final major tunnelling contract, C704, on its 3km long West Island Line, to the Gammon/Nishimatsu JV. Under a target cost arrangement, the JV will excavate 2.1km of twin tube tunnel between Sai Ying Pun and Kennedy Town by drill and blast, and also construct cavern stations at Sai Ying Pun and Hong Kong University.

  2. The West Island Line (WIL) is an extension of the existing Island Line from Sheung Wan to Kennedy Town. It is about 3 kilometres long with three railway stations at Sai Ying Pun (SYP), HKU and Kennedy Town (KET). The construction works commenced in July 2009.
