Our Music Theory exams cover the essential building blocks of music, starting with the basics of rhythm and notes at Grades 1 to 5 before moving on to harmony, counterpoint, composition and a broad knowledge of western music at Grades 6 to 8.

Cancellations. Refunds for exams up to 31 July 2023. To support anyone affected by COVID restrictions, for all face-to-face instrumental and singing or Grade 6 to 8 Music Theory exams, any absent candidate will automatically receive a full refund.
About Percussion assessments. We offer a range of assessments for percussionists learning the snare drum, timpani, tuned percussion and combined percussion. These include Practical Grades and Performance Grades at Grades 1 to 8 and Music Performance diplomas for advanced musicians. Read on to find out more.
Singing for Musical Theatre – Performance Grades. Performance Grades are digital exams assessed from a video recording. They have a strong focus on performance, including communication, interpretation and delivery. In the exam you perform a programme of four songs. You can take Performance Grades at Grades 1 to 8.
