Canford School is one of the UKs top independent coeducational senior full boarding schools for pupils aged 13 to 18, located in Dorset in the South of England.
Whether you would like to arrange to visit, register your child, understand the process for assessment days, pre-testing and entrance examinations, or enquire about scholarships and bursaries, then the Admissions Department is your first port of call.
Founded in 1923, Canford is a full boarding school - there is no flexi or weekly boarding. Day pupils take advantage of the 24/7 school environment and can join boarders for activities and events during the evenings and at weekends.
Within the grounds are a boathouse, sports centre, including a 25 metre pool and modern gym facilities, outdoor education centre, climbing wall, 12 grass sports pitches, 2 full sized all weather pitches, 30 tennis courts, a 9 hole golf course and one of the few original Real Tennis courts in the country.
School Fees. Boarders: £15,780 per term/£47,340 per annum. Day: £11,957 per term/£35,871 per annum. Fees are payable in advance by the first day of term. A monthly payment scheme, starting in July each year, is also available.
Each house buzzes with a life of its own, but all are very much part of our one school, ten houses ethos. We have four boys’ boarding houses and three girls’ boarding houses. All are located within the school grounds just a few minutes' walk from the main buildings in separate boys and girls boarding hubs.
16+ Entry. Around 30 pupils each year join Canford in the Sixth Form from a wide range of backgrounds, both educationally and geographically. They are warmly welcomed into the Canford community and throw themselves into the vast range of opportunities on offer.
Canford is one of the few remaining UK full boarding schools – there is no weekly or flexi boarding - with day pupils able to take full advantage of all the opportunities afforded by 24/7 boarding school life. We believe this is why Canford is such a strong and supportive community.
Monday 2nd and Tuesday 3rd September 2024. Term starts. Tuesday 3rd September - Shells and Upper Sixth Boarders (and House Leaders) return. Wednesday 4th September - Fourth and Fifth Form Boarders return (and new Fourth Form day pupils); Lower Sixth return and Upper Sixth day pupils return.
