Later in 2009, G.O debuted as the main vocalist for MBLAQ, a five-member boy group under J. Tune Entertainment. He trained with Rain who was the group's founder and mentor. The group debuted on 9 October 2009 at Rain's Legend of Rainism concert where they performed various songs from their then-unreleased single album Just BLAQ.
