The University of Hong Kong Libraries was established in 1912. The Main Library comprises an all-rounded collection of materials in the arts, humanities, architecture, social sciences, and science and technology, giving vital support to teaching and research in the University.
Books & Serials. Books and serials in the Main Library are classified according to the Dewey Decimal Classification Scheme (DDC) and shelved on different floors by broad subject disciplines. Main Library serials, with call numbers prefixed S or LS, are mainly composed of journals, magazines, and annual reports.
HKUL was established in 1912 and is the oldest academic library in Hong Kong with over two million volumes of collections. It now comprises the Main Library and six specialist branch libraries and they are located in buildings around the campus with varying opening hours.
