  1. So Ishiguro and his wife, Lorna, devised a plan. Over the next four weeks, the author would clear his diary and do nothing but write six days a week, Monday through Saturday, from 9am to 10.30pm. Ishiguro would get a few hours to himself for lunch and dinner, but there was no answering any mail or using the phone.

  2. 2014年10月21日 · I read all 6 of his published novels in order of publication, except for 'Never Let Me Go' which I read first. My opinion and ranking is: 'The Remains of the Day' - His best book in my opinion, and almost a "must be read by everyone" book. Not quite, but almost. Beautifully rendered characters and very light on the typical Ishiguro obfuscation ...

  3. An Artist of the Floating World. Ono is a once revered artist now living a life primarily cast backwards in time. Structurally, there is a lot of overlap between Ishiguro’s first three novels. They’re obsessed with memory, with the tiny moments where a life hangs in the balance.

I liked it, it's well written, easy to read too, and I was quite captivated by the story. This is narrated by Kathy H., a woman who is going over her life and memories in an attempt to "come to to ...

It doesn’t seem Josie gives a lot of thought to Klara after that, and basically doesn’t need her anymore. The AFs apparently have a specific design life, and Klara’s life is coming to an end.

  9. 2023年5月30日 · Where to start with: Kazuo Ishiguro. A solid list, although as someone who's currently with working his way through Ishiguro's bibliography I was hoping the reason for this article now would've been promotion for a new book. So imagine my disappointment when it only ended up being a new edition of Never Let Me Go with an introduction by the ...

  10. 2019年4月21日 · It's good and written well, but Ishiguro's use of British understatement and emotional repression is frustrating and unrealistic given the plot. The only other of his I've read so far is When We Were Orphans , which I did enjoy, but it didn't really turn into anything special until the last 5th or so.
