“Protected Means of Escape” means Protected corridors, protected lobbies (including lobbies protecting ireman’s lifts) and protected f staircases as defined in the Code of Practice for Fire Safety in Buildings published by the Buildings Department.
Adequate means of escape should be provided within a workplace so as to ensure that all employees are able to reach a safe place without being overcome by smoke, toxic gases, heat or flame in case of fire.
Objectives of setting up the measures of fire safety construction. To protect the staircases, exit routes and exits of buildings, so the occupants can be evacuated safely in case of fire; To inhibit the spread of fire and enhance the fire resistance of the buildings; To provide adequate rescue.
Be familiar with the means of escape and escape routes of the building; Develop a fire escape plan and designate a meeting place; Participate in fire prevention talks and fire drills organized by the building; Ensure fire escape routes (including corridor and staircase) are free from obstruction;
