The West Island Line (WIL) is an extension of the existing Island Line from Sheung Wan to Kennedy Town. It is about 3 kilometres long with three railway stations at Sai Ying Pun (SYP), HKU and Kennedy Town (KET).

The Island Line along the northern shore of Hong Kong Island was first opened in 1985. With the commissioning of the West Island Line in December 2014, the Island Line was extended to Kennedy Town from Sheung Wan.
