Introduction. Established in 1929 by the Tung Wah Group of Hospitals (TWGHs), the Hospital's services were reorganised in 1997 to focus on providing community-based primary, specialist and ambulatory healthcare. It also works closely with community partners to organise shared-care, health talks and outreach programmes. Scope of Services.
Tung Wah Eastern Hospital is a charitable rehabilitation hospital located at Causeway Bay and operated by the Tung Wah Group of Hospitals. The hospital was formerly called Indian General Hospital[2] (IGH). Opened on 27 November 1929, [3] the hospital is located in So Kon Po, Causeway Bay and became a public hospital in 1991.

The three hospitals are Tung Wah Hospital (1890), Kwong Wah Hospital (1911) and Tung Wah Eastern Hospital (1929), all were founded by local Chinese. They formed a group in 1931, the Tung Wah Group of Hospitals.

Tung Wah Eastern Hospital. Grading: Grade 2 Historic Building. Tung Wah Eastern Hospital, located in Eastern Hospital Road, Causeway Bay, was commissioned in 1929 to replace "Ji Shan Clinic" in Wanchai and was managed directly by Tung Wah Hospital. There were about 200 beds in the hospital.
