2023年11月15日 · 針對有騙徒把虛假的WhatsApp登入網站在搜尋器以「WhatsApp」作關鍵字投放廣告，誤導市民登入網站以騙取帳戶資料，警方隨即通報電訊商攔截相關網頁，亦已向相關的網頁搜尋器及海外有關當局提出移除虛假WhatsApp網頁廣告的要求。 在宣傳教育方面，警方一直透過多渠道「鋪天蓋地」宣傳防騙信息，期望提高市民大眾的防騙意識。 針對涉及騎劫即時通訊軟件帳戶的騙案，警方在其「守網者網站」、Facebook等不同渠道加強宣傳，包括自今年九月起每周在社交媒體上發布相關防騙信息、以及網絡安全及科技罪案調查科（網罪科）於今年十月舉行大型記者會，現場展示騙徒騎劫即時通訊帳戶的技術，並安排一名受害者分享他遭遇此類騙案的親身經歷，及建議市民防範帳戶被騎劫的方法。
