   2023年8月10日 · 「墊底費」又稱為「自負額 (excess)」，是保單中一個預先設定的金額，索償時保單持有人就須向保險公司支付該金額。 例如索償總數 $15,000，保單附設墊底費 $5,000，保單持有人要自行付出 $5,000 自負額，索償餘數 $10,000 則會由保險公司賠償。 自負額的金額可能因應個別保險公司而有所不同。 墊底費因不同的保險公司和保險單而異，有些保單會有非常高昂的自負額，也有一些保單可能根本不設自負額。 通常墊底費越高，保費越平，反之亦然，所以司機在考慮不同的車保方案時，除了看保費高低外，墊底費亦是重要的考慮因素。 本港法例沒有就財物損失訂定最低金額要求，不過本地大部份保險公司都會提供高達 $2,000,000 的第三者財物保障。
