The Demographics : Ethnic Groups. Hong Kong is a largely homogenous society, with about 91.6% of its people being Chinese (ethnically speaking, Han Chinese). The 2021 Population Census found (by way of self-identification) that there were about 619,568 non-Chinese people in Hong Kong, or about 8.4% of the population.
The Hong Kong census does not currently categorise Han Chinese subgroups nor does it differentiate other Chinese ethnicities, although in the past the census would collect information on language and dialect use. [19]

2022年2月28日 · According to the results of the 2021 Population Census, the Hong Kong population, as measured by the definition of Resident Population, was 7 413 070 at the end of June 2021, with an average annual growth rate of 0.5% over the last decade.
In Hong Kong, a majority of the population are Cantonese. According to the CIA World Factbook, 89% of Hong Kongers speak the Cantonese language. [8] Other Han Chinese peoples present in Hong Kong include the Hakka, Teochew, Hoklo and Shanghainese
