HKUST is kind of going downhill with many good CS professors leaving for US schools. Eg: golin left last spring sem and amir will leave after this fall : (. And, interms of AI, UST mostly has research in computer vision, and almost none in other fields. HKU is a good school but not known for CS or engineering.

HKUST is probably a little better than HKU in terms of the quality of coursework. Plus grading at HKU is a lot worse compared to HKUST. In terms of employment opportunities, both are very similar but HKU has the edge mainly because of its slightly better reputation due to its age.
