2019年10月31日 · Hu was about to become only the third person ever to swim around Hong Kong Island, and the second woman after Australian Linda McGill accomplished the feat in 1976. Pu directed the pilot boat, managing the 23-person support crew for the epic swim.

2019年11月5日 · The first recorded round Hong Kong swim was in 1976 by Linda McGill, an Australian female swimmer, from Repulse Bay rounding the island anti-clockwise in 17:06:00 (that swim was sponsored by Cathay Pacific, and she was notable by swimming topless).
On 23 May 1976, swimming topless most of the way, she became the first person to swim around Hong Kong Island, accomplishing this in 17 hours, 6 minutes. The swim, in a counterclockwise direction, was sponsored by Cathay Pacific and began and ended in Repulse Bay .

The first official relay swim around Hong Kong Island was completed by a group of five men called The Drifters in 2018. In May, trio Cae Tolman, Mandy Tik Tolman and Alec Stuart became the first mixed relay to do so. Fong’s plan is to start and end at Sandy Bay Swimming Shed, passing the likes of Central, Cape D’Aguilar and Aberdeen along the way.
On 23 May 1976, Linda McGill became the first person to swim 28 miles (45 km) around Hong Kong Island in 17 hours 6 minutes at the age of 29 with her manager Dr. John Folay.
