Starting from the May/June 2024 examinations, schools are required to enter the Student Reference Number (STRN) for each NCS student during registration. The STRN is a unique number (e.g. SXXXXXXX) assigned by the Education Bureau (EDB) for each student in schools participating in the Student Information Management System (STIMS).

The only difference is the grade boundaries since less people take their exams in oct nov than may June, so the grade boundaries of November are generally ever so slightly higher than those of may June.

There are four opportunities to sit IGCSE, International GCSE, GCE O Level and A-/AS-level examinations every year. Examinations with Cambridge Assessment International Education (CAIE) take place in May/June and October/November. Examinations with Pearson Edexcel take place in January and May/June.
