The iPad Air2 does not support iPadOS16.x. While the iPad Air2 cannot be updated to iPadOS16, your iPad is still supported - and still receives essential security updates.

It originally shipped with iOS 8.1, and can run the latest release of iPadOS 15 – but can't run iPadOS 16 or higher. If yours is not already updated to the latest release of iPadOS 15, you may want to update it to that.

Amazon, itself, currently sells new, sealed in box, Apple's base model 2019, 7th gen, 10.2 inch screen, WiFi ONLY 32 and 128 GBs iPad models selling for $279 and $359, respectively, through its own direct sales distribution. This is a $50-$70 savings from Apple's own pricing of these iPad models.
