2021年5月21日 · 1928年，7月29日出生於廣東潮州，父親是小學校長。 1932年，9月進入北門街觀海寺小學讀書. 1940年，為躲避日本侵略者的壓迫，全家逃難到香港投靠親戚。 年底進入香港的中學讀初中。 1943年，父親李雲經病逝。 為了養活母親和三個弟妹，李嘉誠被迫輟學走上社會謀生。 李嘉誠當時為一間玩具製造公司當 推銷員 。 工作雖然繁忙，失學的李嘉誠仍用工餘之暇到夜校進修，補習文化。 1948年，由於勤奮好學，精明能幹，不到20歲的他便升任塑料玩具廠的總經理。 1950年，李嘉誠把握時機，用平時省吃儉用積蓄的7000美元在筲箕灣創辦了自己的塑膠廠，他將它命名為“長江塑膠廠”。 1958年，李嘉誠在北角購入一幅地皮，興建一幢12層高廠廈，正式介入地產市場。
