Hi, We are a couple planning self-drive itinerary in Japan, planning to explore Nagoya & Mt Fuji which we had missed when we went there years back. We will be arriving in Osaka Kansai International Airport, and will be renting a car.

JR West passes do NOT cover Tokaido Shinkansen train serving b/w Shin- Osaka to Nagoya station, as stated clearly on the official website. For savings, consider taking highway buses b/w Nagoya and Kyoto whose fares are cheaper though much slower.

Hi, we bought train tickets from Shin- Osaka to Takayama changing train in Nagoya on a single ticket. So does that mean we cannot go out to 'Grand Kiosk' to buy our Ekiben since they are not separate tickets?

You can also take the Ltd. Express trains such as Haruka, Thunderbird, and Kuroshio. These trains will be much less crowded. Reply. Report inappropriate content. dennis757.
