We are in our 70s and love all things Australia especially Aboriginal art and culture, scenery, and people. We have been to Australia three times before.

By the time you arrive in Melbourne, you'll probably have been awake for 24 hours. Driving on your first day is not a safe plan imo.

On the mainland of Okinawa itself, certainly up on the Motobu peninsula, or near the nicer resorts, you will find some lovely beaches and resorts. However, being in Naha and wandering Kokusai Street, and ducking into Heiwa Dori will afford you the Okinawa experience.
