Best to go is on Dec-Jan . Many shops and malls to visit. Prices are not cheap. Shanghainese will tend to smoke everywhere (outdoor or indoor).
This museum explores the history of the city of Shanghai from around 1850 to 1950, starting with the opening of Shanghai and ending with the revolution in 1949. It is located right by People's Square. Housed in a beautiful old building, the museum is large and doesn't feel crowded, even when there are SO MANY people there.
