時間、記憶、放射能など、目に見えないものをテーマに著作と美術制作活動を行う小林エリカは、小説『マダム・キュリーと朝食を』で2014年の三島由紀夫賞および芥川賞候補に選出されています。 インスタレーション《日出ずる》（2016）は、広島と長崎への原爆投下、その前にアメリカで行われたトリニティ核実験、その時にラジオで流れていたという曲「サンライズ・セレナーデ」、終戦から2年後に生まれた小林の母の存在など、さまざまなイメージが絡み合いながら見る人の連想を促します。 暗闇のなかで光る文字に用いられた蓄光シートは、吸収した光のエネルギーを可視光線に変換します。 この素材の性質自体が、見えない力を発信しているといえるでしょう。
