Having traveled to Tokyo, Takayama, Kanazawa, Kyoto, Osaka and Hiroshima, we’ve decided to wrap up our trip in Hokkaido. We like nature, scenic places and drives, and hiking. Not excited about Onsen.

If you intend to travel on long distance trains, you will need to fix and itinerary and book ahead. Also, finalize your plans so you can book hotels ASAP.

The latter is served by frequent JR commuter train in 30 min from former. It's not worth the hassles of changing hotels for an o/n in Otaru. Add an extra day in Sapporo for a day trip to Asahikawa.
