Indications and Dosage. Intravenous. Pain. Adult: For short-term symptomatic treatment of acute moderate pain, when administration by IV route is clinically justified or when other routes of administration are not possible: 400-800 mg 6 hourly as necessary via IV infusion over 30 minutes. Max: 3,200 mg daily.
Dosage/Direction for Use. Adjust dose according to individual tolerability w/in 0.5-2 ng/kg/min over 6 hr daily by IV infusion for up to 4 wk. First 2-3 days: 0.5 ng/kg/min over 30 min. Dosage/Direction for Use. Infusion or inj Adult Usual daily dose: 9 MU, divided into 2-3 doses, as an infusion over 30-60 min. Max: 12 MU. Childn up to 40 kg 75,000-150,000 u/kg, divided into 3 doses. Higher doses have occasionally been given in cystic fibrosis. Renal impairment Lower doses are usually given.
