We have been there before and stayed in Shinjuku due to the accessability to train station, convenience stores, restaurants, etc. I would like to know if there might be another area that’s similar where we can stay.

In fact all Nozomi trains will be reserved seats only during Golden Week this year. You can be sure the 3 of you won't be sitting together if you book last minute on most days.
