A narrow window of 2-3 weeks from late-May till mid-Jun. If you go too early, the ice is not melting yet, hence no floe edge. If too late, the ice has all melted and again no floe edge. By the time we left our 2nd tour on Jun 16, our camp was starting to “sink” as the ice beneath was starting to melt.
