They paid for valet parking and I signed in and was led to a back conference room where there were at least 20 other participants there.

The pillar rocks, waterfalls and koyo spots can be done within 2 hours. From Sapporo, visit Otaru as a day trip and drop by Jozankei onsen upon return.

As mentioned koyo timing is less fickle than sakura blossom. Consider these popular and famous koyo spots. Early Nov - Hiraizumi, Yamadera, Naruko gorge.

I love eastern Hokkaido-Lake Akan etc and if you have 6 days, you can go slow and enjoy that area-i was there last year and may return in June this year.
