每年的農歷四月初八 (2011年是5月10日）香港會隆重的慶祝佛誕——這個有著幾百年歷史，最重要的中國傳統節日之一。 幾乎在同一時間，長洲——這個香港的離島，島上的居民會組織一系列活動，例如飄色巡遊，搶包山，來紀念在清朝死於瘟疫的同胞。 這個節日又稱為”包山節”。 每當這個時候每一個人都會買一個特製的包子來吃以祈求好運。 因為包子上寫著紅色的”平安”兩個字，所以這個包子被人們稱為”平安包”。 2001年，香港政府和島民決定將慶祝活動訂在和佛誕同一日。 因為佛誕是香港的公眾假期，這樣可以讓更多的人能夠參與到這個節日。 今天，大約3萬遊客齊齊聚集到長洲，來見識這裡大名鼎鼎的慶祝活動。 32℃的天氣和炙熱的陽光也阻擋不了興奮的人群。 街道兩旁擠滿了為了一睹飄色巡遊的人們。
