2017年12月21日 · 水湳洞十三層遺址是臺灣鍊銅史不可磨滅的記憶，礦山遺址有顯著的普世價值，礦山停採後其機能雖已消失，但是鄰近礦山聚落的機能仍持續運作，若經過適當整理與保存，一如日本的石見銀山為東瀛首位以「產業遺產」登錄世界文化遺產的地區，水金九地區的礦業遺跡非常符合聯合國科教文組織對世界文化遺產的期待，尤其是水湳洞地區具有陰陽海、水湳洞選鍊廠、廢煙道及黃金瀑布等世界級的四大奇景，所表現出來的環境特色既富有時代意義又具有人文情懷的空間，以及富涵與自然景觀相融合的水岸與山景，結合水岸與山景為環境地景的特色。 展演藝廊為臺電閒置舊禮堂為挑高式一層樓紅磚建築物改建，並規劃為「展演藝廊」之用。

This museum explores the history of the city of Shanghai from around 1850 to 1950, starting with the opening of Shanghai and ending with the revolution in 1949. It is located right by People's Square. Housed in a beautiful old building, the museum is large and doesn't feel crowded, even when there are SO MANY people there.
