   2021年5月24日 · 像上文介紹過的mRNA疫苗一樣，病毒載體疫苗的原理是將新冠病毒表面抗原的遺傳物質送入人體細胞，再透過蛋白質合成機制產生不致病的新冠病毒表面抗原，激發體內免疫反應產生抗體。 mRNA疫苗內含脂質納米粒子包裹著的mRNA，它可以直接被細胞吸收; 而病毒載體疫苗則是以另一種方式將新冠病毒棘蛋白基因「偷運」到我們的細胞中。 在製造病毒載體疫苗之前，科學家首先需要清楚新冠病毒負責製造棘蛋白的基因排序。 它是由四個「化學字母」：A、C、G、U核苷酸單元所構成的RNA單鏈，這是細胞用來製造棘蛋白的分子說明書。 現時，世界各地藥廠利用了不同的病毒來研發病毒載體疫苗。 例如會引起普通感冒的腺病毒。 科學家就是透過病毒感染細胞的能力，將特定的遺傳物質帶入我們身體的細胞之中。

   陳德勝 醫生. 最近醫學界傳出新冠狀病毒 (COVID-19) 變種，由原來的D614變為G614，令大家都很擔心，究竟詳情是怎樣呢？ 新冠狀病毒，需要用自身的 "刺突糖S蛋白" (好像一條鎖匙)開啟細胞的 ACE2 受体 (好像一個門鎖)，才能進入細胞繁殖。 這個S蛋白是由一串的氨基酸組成，現在擔心的變異就是S蛋白第614位置的氨基酸。 在3月前，這個位置的氨基酸是D (aspartic acid)，而3月之後，這個位置的氨基酸變異成為G (Glycine). 所以病毒株的排列便由原來的D614變為G614，現在大部份的冠狀病毒都是G614品種。 擔心新冠狀病毒由原來的D614變為G614，其實是擔心它的傳染性、病情嚴重性和對研發疫苗有什麼影響。
