物流是指物質體從供應者向需求者的物理移動，它由一系列創造時間價值和空間價值的經濟活動組成，包括 運輸 、 倉儲 、 配送 、 包裝 、 裝卸 、 流通加工 等多項基本活動，是這些活動的統一。 相關概念 最早出現於軍事行政組織，在中國古代一直稱為 輜重 ，近代逐漸改為 後勤 。 現代的「物流」概念最早可能是以 二戰 時期圍繞戰爭物資供應， 美軍 建立的 後勤 理論為原型的。 當時的「後勤」是指將戰時物資生產、 採購 、運輸、配給等活動作為一個整體進行統一布置，以求戰略物資補給的費用更低、速度更快、服務更好。 後來，將「後勤」體系移植到現代經濟生活中，才逐步演變為今天的物流。 物流系統也可像網際網路般，促進全球化。 在貿易上，若要更進一步與世界連繫，就得靠良好的物流管理系統。
