We're so excited to finally be days away from our trip. Wondering if I can get some feedback on this basic itinerary. Kids are 13 and almost 10, used to a decent amount of hiking and outdoor activities.

When we went to Palm Springs for two weeks last November, we managed to only pack a carry-on each, a small backpack for electronics and my purse. We loved not waiting for luggage at either end of the trip.

It's the next state (Nayarit) north of "Jalisco" where Puerto Vallarta is located. Gettting a taxi at the airport upon arrival is perfectly safe. There are maps that show zones and the prices are set.

You can choose a guided tour when you buy your tickets. I don't know much about the Hop on-Hop off bus and if it goes there.

We are a family of 4 that love wildlife, exploring, snorkeling and beaches . We enjoy exploring on our own whenever possible over a tour.
