1. Vote. The suggested tip was 60 soles per porter, 120 for the chef, and then we did 180 for the guide. These are totals the group pays them. We had 5 porters, a chef, and a guide for the 2 of us. If you have a larger group you'll have more porters. If you bring $100 worth of soles each youll have more than enough.
Porter is made and designed in Japan. The bags are very nice, somewhat expensive. For kids stuff, I recommend going to Toyosu LaLaPort, which has extensive adult and kids shopping.
Head Porter are more expensive. Tokyo has more shops carrying porter brand, but hokkaido 's shops had more stock available. I seem to have seen Porter bags being sold in Chitose airport duty free...and THOSE were definitely about 10% cheaper than usual. I
