   香港警務處 （英語： Hong Kong Police ，縮寫 ： HKPF ）成立於1844年5月1日，是 香港 最早的現代 警察機關 之一，現隸屬 香港特別行政區政府 保安局 ，為編制最龐大 特區政府部門 （2014年佔20.2%）、 紀律部隊 [5] 。 2013年 聯合國毒品和犯罪辦公室 統計香港平均每100萬人有4,500名警察， 警民比例 居全球第5名，次于 俄羅斯 、 土耳其 、 意大利 、 葡萄牙 [6] 。 雖然香港特別行政區有 中國人民解放軍駐香港部隊 駐守，但解放軍並不能隨意離開駐地軍營。 其他不少國家、地區部份由軍隊擔當的職能，在香港均由警方負責，如防守海岸、邊界巡邏、反恐行動等。
