All IELTS scores are between 0 and 9. You can also get .5 scores as well (for example, 6.5 or 7.5). You will get a band score for each skill (listening, reading, writing and speaking) and also an overall band score. The overall band score is the average score of all the skills. The individual IELTS scores for Listening, Reading, Writing, and Speaking are all equally weighted. They are rated from 0 – 9, with increments of 0.25, 0.5, and 0.75. The overall band score is calculated by taking the mean result for all four parts of the test.

You are graded on your performance in the test, using scores from 1–9 for each part of the test: Listening, Reading, Writing and Speaking. Your results from the four parts then produce an overall score. The unique 9-band scoring system measures performance in a consistent manner, wherever and whenever the test is taken.
