2023年8月25日 · A water pump is used to transport water from one location to another. To suck water in so that it can be expelled, a pump must be able to rapidly alter pressure within a system. How a water pump achieves this pressure change is what allows certain pumps to be more beneficial to certain applications than others.
The water supply systems of most buildings make integrated use of 3 types of systems, namely the direct supply system, indirect supply system and sump and pump supply system. Under the direct supply system, fresh water is transmitted directly from the public water mains to households at lower floors by means of hydraulic pressure inside the mains.
The whole flushing water system consists of 35 pumping stations, 54 service reservoirs with a total storage capacity of nearly 0.26 million m 3 and 1,800 km of water mains. Water main materials are mainly cement-lined ductile iron, cement or epoxy-lined mild steel and plastic (polyethylene).
Raw water, fresh water and sea water pumping stations of various sizes are dotted across Hong Kong. Each pumping station basically houses pumps and control equipment.
