It's a group of very picturesque lakes and ponds on a highland plain in Bandai-Asahi National Park, Fukushima Prefecture, about 3 km north of the foot of Mt. Bandai.

Apparently, on two occasions, Hachiko managed to dig out and rescue his master who had gone hunting and been buried under snow in an avalanche, and his loyalty was recognized by a bronze statue, just like Hachiko in Shibuya.

  3. 日本らしさある「白川八幡神社」でした。苔が見事でした。和銅年間(708年 - 714年)創建と伝えられているそうで、とても古さがあり、また地味ですが、とても日本らしさのある立派な神社に見えましたよ。苔が良い感じだったのを覚えています。

  6. From Kawaguchiko Station Platform 1, you can take the Kawaguchiko Sightseeing Bus Red-Line to the last stop, stop 22, for Kawaguchiko Natural Living Center and Oishi Park. The bus ride costs 480 yen and takes around 30 minutes. The bus frequency is around every 15 minutes. Natural Living Center and Oishi Park have no entrance fee.
