Nosocomial outbreaks of Candida auris, a multidrug-resistant fungus, are increasingly reported worldwide; the mode of transmission has usually been reported to be via direct contact.
The global spread of Candida auris (C. auris) is alarming since it was first discovered in 2009 in Japan. In Hong Kong, the first case was found in June 2019. Up to 17 September, a total of 18 cases have been detected, all of them carriers without symptoms. Why has C. auris aroused so much concern?

2023年4月12日 · Regarding an earlier announcement on Candida auris carrier cases, the spokesperson for Hong Kong Buddhist Hospital gave the following update today (April 12): Following a contact tracing investigation, one more male patient, aged 79, in the medicine and geriatrics ward was confirmed to carry Candida auris without signs of infection.
